Are you finding teachers just aren’t getting your sense of humour? Are you looking for an appreciative outlet for your pent-up comedic exuberance?

Here it is! Class Clowns hits the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre in Wollongong on Thursday 19th May.

Class Clowns is the Melbourne International Festival’s annual competition for secondary students Years 9 to 12. Travelling during Term 2, the competition tours alongside the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Roadshow and is looking for the silliest, zaniest kid in the class.

At the Wollongong Class Clowns event, students will be given the opportunity to do an intensive workshop with one of the Comedy Festival’s finest comic talents, Harley Breen (see him on YouTube). They’ll get to polish up their own five minutes of original stand-up, sketch or musical comedy and then perform it that night!

Winning acts in the state finals will fly to Melbourne to play the main stage at the 2011 Class Clowns National Grand Final August 31. First prize is $2000.

SHYAC is putting together a team for the Wollongong Class Clowns Event. If you are interested, just click 'register'. It costs $15 per act and a bus will be provided if we get enough interest.
