Calling All Friends of Mary Poppins & Guinness World Record Holders!

Come Join Our Lap of Honour at the 2011 Tulip Time Parade at 3pm on Saturday 24th September

         Guinness World Record

It's official! The London HQ of Guinness World Records has awarded TWO world records to SHYAC's Mary Poppins event in May 2011 . We now have the current records and certificates for the Largest Umbrella Mosaic (2,115) and the Largest Umbrella Dance (1,216).

Congratulations to everyone involved - what an effort!

To celebrate the achievement we are inviting you to break out those brollies again and come along to the Bowral Tulip Time Parade, either as a spectator or a parade participant (it is essential to register online at SHYAC to be in the parade) . Relive the magic of that perfect autumn day in May at Bradman Oval. Bring your family and friends to enjoy Bowral in spring at Tulip Time and to congratulate all our world record holders.

The Guinness World Record certificates will be on display near Corbett Gardens after the Parade for you to get a photograph with them for the family album.

Marshalling for the Mary Poppins parade participants is between 2pm and 2.30pm at Banyette Street car park (opposite Aldi supermarket) near the Rotary BBQ.

If you are running late or can't get to the designated marshalling area for some reason then go to the Lions Park (western corner of Bong Bong Street on the intersection with Bowral Street) and look for the cyclists. The Mary Poppins entry #35 is marching last in in the parade - we are the highlight after all! - following the cyclists. So you could join us there where the parade starts if necessary.

If you miss out on a spot in the parade then come watch as a street spectator. But make sure you bring along your umbrella and put it up as we go past and give us cheer and we'll give a shout back so you can feel part of it all. The Guinness World Record certificates will be on display in Corbett Gardens at the Senior Citizens Centre afterwards - as will the Mary Poppins bronze maquette - so you can get photographs with them over the weekend. The remaining commemorative umbrellas will also be on sale at the bargain price of $20.
